It ain’t easy for a playa’ – Single and the city edition #2

The last time the topic of online dating was brought up on this website, it ended in a Welch's-drinking pedophile and a lonely birthday cake. Because of this, I shelved the idea for a few months and decided I would let fate do all the work for me. Everybody knows you'll never find your man if you're out looking for him! And you certainly won't find him while you're home eating endless rolls of sushi, picking dry skin off the heels of your feet while you sing along to Les Miserables on … [Read more...]

‘I’ve never seen this much dancing in the presence of so many eggs…’

...A Cautionary Tale About Brunch by Angela & Colin COLIN: You know my feelings on brunch. Particularly, brunch on a Sunday. I hate to be the designated driver of the Sunday Funday set, but boys (and bois) and girls (and grrrls), let’s be realistic. Do you really want to wake up at 8:30 p.m. sweaty and cotton-mouthed, with home fries in your hair, wondering where your phone is and why your roommate is hanging half out of the bathroom, clutching a crumbly tube of Ritz crackers to … [Read more...]

On the road again (pass the Chex Mix)

My friend and I thought it would be fun to go with her boyfriend's band to a couple of their shows last weekend. While I was able to fulfill my lifelong fantasy of being a merch girl- or, the girl who carries a box of t-shirts from the van to the venue- I ultimately realized that being in a band seems like way too much work. I'm exhausted and all I did was dance and pass out in the back of my friend's Acton all weekend. Check out some of the pics I snapped on the trip that took me from NYC … [Read more...]

I wanna sext you up.

I'm sure by now everybody has heard about the big Anthony Weiner sexting scandal. You know, the one where the New York democratic rep. sent sexy-time pics and messages to a plethora of young female fans over Twitter and Facebook? The messages, some of which included Weiner shirtless or with "bulging-underpants," were leaked earlier this month to a shocked and appalled country, and now the (married) politician is doing some serious damage control. Despite the fact that only a … [Read more...]

Strange Creek 2011: Same creek, different vibe.

What happens when the very quality that makes something so unique is the same quality that seemingly exploits it? When the "special thing" that sets something apart is the very same thing that allows it to gain popularity? I found myself pondering such quandaries during my time at Strange Creek Music Festival, held last weekend in Greenfield, Mass., as I frolicked among the hippies who also opted to spend their Memorial Day weekends dancing in a field eating grilled cheeses rather than … [Read more...]

It ain’t easy for a playa’ – Single & the city edition #1

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only single gal I know. In my family, group of friends, and even at my place of business, it often seems that I'm the only Single White Female within the 5-mile radius. For the most part, I have no problem with this. I think singledom suits me. I travel a lot, try to stay career-focused, and happen to live in a city crawling with hot men. But sometimes it'd be nice to trade my nights out at fratty bars on the Upper East Side for a night in cuddling up on the … [Read more...]

Buntology’s 2011 Summer Festy Guide!!!

After enduring one of the longest and most brutal winters the east coast has seen in years, festival season is almost upon us!!! As much as we'd all like to kick off our shoes and enjoy every festy the summer has to offer, the reality is that with full-time jobs and bills to pay, most of us have to be a bit more selective about the ones we attend. Because of this, Buntology has enlisted the help of five expert panelists to offer their infinite wisdom and expertise on the subject, and to … [Read more...]

Music that I pay for, and why you should pay for it, too.

When I was a kid all I cared about was buying music. Every week when I got paid from whatever dinky job I was working (solely to support this cd-purchasing habit), I would cash my check, head to the mall and salivate down the aisles of Best Buy until I picked out whatever obscure-ass shit my 7th grade self was listening to. By the time I graduated high-school I had a massive music collection which I kept alphabetized in a humongous booklet. I was meticulous with my CDs; they were in … [Read more...]
