I've been trying to write an article about The Arrogant Sons of Bitches for the last two years. ---- I was going to title it something like, "Where Have All the Rude Boys Gone? Eagerly Awaiting the Return of the Arrogant Sons of Bitches" and it would basically be 1,000 words of me gushing about the now-defunct ska punk band from Long Island, N.Y. I'd talk about how they were the first ska band I'd ever seen live, the first tiny club show I'd ever been to, and how those shows basically changed … [Read more...]

In a musical sea of jam, funk and electronic bands, all clamoring their way through the festy and club circuit hoping for mainstream success, Dopapod stands out above the rest. The four-piece experimental funk group manages to blend all of the aforementioned genres and turn them into something exciting and original- not to mention their insanely energetic and wicked fun live shows. The Alchemystics ‘Spread Hope’ in true summer style
As every good music fan knows, sometimes even the best album can take a few listens before it starts to grow on you. Often, the catchiest tracks are found and played on repeat, until the rest of the album is slowly integrated into the listening cycle, at which point- if the CD is good- the listener begins to fall in love with the entire body of work. And sometimes you have the pleasure of love at first listen. This is the rare occasion in which you pop on a new album and are instantly … [Read more...]

Buntology’s year in music: Thanks for the memories!
Wow! We can't believe 2009 has come to an end. This year saw a lot in music, and so did the staff at Buntology. Between Phish, festies, and a smattering of new and classic rock concerts, it's going to be hard to top all of the awesome performances 2009 had to offer. But, before we look at the music, let's take a second to remember the great musicians that passed away this year: Ron Asheton (The Stooges), Jay Bennet (Wilco), Bob Bogle (The Ventures), Ean Evans (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Adam Goldstein … [Read more...]
A little bit Furthur than we’ve gone before
I have been scratching my head for a while now. If there is a God (and no, I am not trying to stir a debate), he is very pleased with us at the moment. Hmm, maybe not pleased with all of us, but those immersed in the live music scene are getting what they want. Spring was sprung. Summer was stupendous. Fall was fantastic. Winter will be wondrous. Yes, wondrous. I have devoted so much time making up for Phish’s five-year hiatus over the summer and fall that I think I forgot about my … [Read more...]
Eric Hutchinson is “Alright with me”
I may be out of the music loop, because I just discovered singer/songwriter, Eric Hutchinson. Thanks to Pandora I came across this young biddy and really liked what I heard. His hit single "Alright With Me", became stuck in my head, and after hearing a few more tunes off his album, "Sounds Like This", I decided to buy the CD. Hutchinson released his album, "Sounds Like This", on his own in 2007, and the album soared to number 5 on the Itunes Store. Warner Bros. Records picked up the … [Read more...]
